What’s your brand identity SEO strategy?
I’ve read lots of SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) articles. Most of them are only helpful to those of you who are brand new to SEO/SEM. I have not yet come across one that sums it up simply:
- The number of links using your keyword to your desired URL will heavily influence your ranking on search results for said key term.
- Figure out what other person or company has a high POSITIVE web visibility. I will use Chris Pirillo as an example. He is a fairly popular web personality and has many succesfuly websites. I will use his main website, though, lockergnome.com, for my example.
- Perform a google search using advanced operators to see what sites are linking to the site you’ve chosen. You will notice more popular sites may have thousands or more inbound links. Click here to see what I mean.
- Do your best to spread inbound links to your site using your name or brand name in a fashion mimicing that of your chosen example.
That’s it. Work on it a little bit every day. You might not be able to get CNN to write about you. You might not end up on wikipedia. But… when you have a number of inbound links as strong as that of your choice you will likely out SEO and SEM any particular negative publicity that comes up about you.
